Lance Cpl. John T. Doody was shot in the line of duty just 3 months after arriving in Iraq. That injury and subsequent strokes left him paralyzed, and it made just getting out of bed a struggle.Then a propotype lift system called Angel Hands was installed in his home. Angel Hands is designed to make sling-based lifts a thing of the past, instead relying on a pair of conveyor "hands" to slip beneath the patient without causing discomfort or trauma. Custom Mobility, Nautical Structures, and Angel Hands inventor Gary Kluckhuhn were there for the lift's first use.
