Christine Garner is a passionate woman, who uses her platform as Ms. Wheelchair Florida 2019 to advocate for people with disabilities. Whether she was supporting the community at local events, or simply attending classes at the University of South Florida, traveling was very challenging for Christine. While the dedication of her mother Tricia allowed the young woman to accomplish all of these goals, this solution couldn’t last forever due to the risk of physical injury for them both. With her own accessible vehicle, Christine can enter and exit her Toyota Sienna on her own. And it’s just a matter of time before she will even learn to drive it on her own!
This incredible opportunity was made possible through the collective efforts of our local community, we presented Christine Garner (Ms. Wheelchair Florida 2019) with her very own accessible vehicle! To make this possible, time and money were donated by Autumn June (local musician and fundraising organizer), Michele Sutak (Wings 4 Recovery), Representative Jennifer Webb, Sacred Heart Church, Bill Church (Quaker Steak and Lube), Fran Haasch (The Fran Haasch Law Group), and Custom Mobility. Christine’s accessible vehicle will make it possible for her to travel with her power wheelchair, which will let her be more independent and will allow her to dedicate more time to helping those in need.
